I was invited a week ago to a Book Club gathering at Marti's house. She started this awesome club years ago. Each woman brought delicious food to enjoy. One brought a Shoo fly pie. That was great since I shared many things about my Amish books. The members decided to each pick one of my books to read. And thank you to Ruth Brothers for suggesting me to be the author for the June meeting. Some of the books they read are: A Gift Forever, The Amish Mother's Secret, Priscilla's Escape, A Joyful Break, Amish Baby Snatched, and Never the Same. It was fun to meet the members! I talked about my inspiration and being with traditional publishers and self-publishing. I wish I had thought to get a picture with Marti and the members. The book I'm holding is because at the end, I told them about my daughter, Christina, being my cover model for my book, Fleeting Hope!

I happen to see this review today for An Unexpected Gift! I'm thrilled because I really enjoyed writing this book. I am posting this by my pool. The only bad thing is the noisy cicadas!

Crossing Cheyenne by Jaimie Engle and Delia Lathem is a great story with well-developed characters. Brandon and Cheyenne meet when they are both booked for the same cabin in Wyoming. Just as they don’t get along with being stuck in the same cabin, their pets, Blossom, a cat, and Lady, a dog, are unhappy about this situation. As the pets learn to like each other, Brandon and Cheyenne work together to stay in the cabin when there is no other available cabin for one of them. The dialogue between Brandon and Cheyenne is amusing and refreshing. The sense of humor helps to bridge the gap between them. They are both dealing with parental issues. Brandon’s father died when they had been estranged since his mother died years ago. Cheyenne is looking for her birth mother and thinks she might be in Wyoming. There is a lot of realistic action when a dangerous kayak trip happens. I was terrified for Cheyenne as she battled the water. I found the Native American aspect informative, especially how people were bullied on the reservation even when they paid their rent.

This story is slated to be a movie, and after enjoying the book so much, I look forward to seeing it.

When I wrote NEVER THE SAME, I was inspired by an actual plane crash where a woman survivor changes her life. In my book, when fashion buyer Kimberly Collins and high school senior Tori Moorhead escape a burning plane, both women make radical decisions that intertwine their lives forever. When it was first released with Samhain Publishing in 2007, the cover designer created the plane image for it. After my 7-year book contract ended, I asked for my rights back. I couldn’t use the same cover or the same copy when I self-published it. I revised the text and got a new cover. In 2011, NEVER THE SAME, was listed in the Romantic Times magazine in a crash course reading list. If you should read this women’s fiction contemporary novel, I hope you enjoy it and write a review.      Our daughter Amanda served at Easter Mass this morning! I love Easter! It is a beautiful day here. We might eat outside or some of us. I'm glad our grandson Dean will be here for Easter. Bart and his family aren't able to come this Easter. They will be missed!
         Bart and Kelly had the beautiful flowers delivered to us for Easter!  The Easter egg was made by Amanda. It even has a light inside it!

I loved reading Susan Lantz Simpson’s book, Eleanore’s Wish. In fact, I could not stop reading it because the characters were so realistic that I felt like I was right there with them. I liked reading about the previous characters, Amelia and Christina, from Simpson’s previous books in this wonderful series. If you haven’t read them, I highly recommend you do! I felt Eleanore’s pain as she struggled to lose weight. She had a lot to conquer with her diabetes and high cholesterol. Living in her brother’s house was rough with the meals being heavy in fat and calories. I found myself rooting for her throughout the book. Her sister-in-law Nancy seemed to resent Eleanore’s efforts to eat healthy instead of eating her prepared dishes. It was great reading about Joshua’s bike shop and how he cared for his customers. When Eleanore bought a bike to help with her losing weight, it was inspiring. Eleanore received several anonymous gifts left in different spots. I couldn’t figure out the giver but knew the person had to know Eleanore well. I was totally surprised at the person who gave the thoughtful gifts. Josh and Eleanore had so many things interfering with their attempts to go for a bike ride together, that it was frustrating. I yearned for these two caring people to find happiness and wanted them to be together.

I highly recommend you read Eleanore’s Wish. Susan Lantz Simpson is a wonderful Amish author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Our granddaughter Lila read the petitions today on Ash Wednesday. She did a great job reading them. She's in 4th grade. Our grandson Dillon was a server for Mass. I'm glad we were able to attend church at St. Veronica today. We received ashes on our foreheads at church.

The Lenten season of prayer, fasting, and sacrifice begins. I want to draw closer to God and in order to do this, I need to pray, fast, and read the Bible.

If you’re looking for a story that will touch every emotion, this is it! Already a fan of Amish fiction and this author, I was reminded again why I love this genre but felt an even deeper connection as I lost myself in this book. Very well written! A story to be long remembered.
