I loved the main character, KatieAnn Mast, in Susan Lantz Simpson’s book, Plain Truth. It’s Book 3 in her Plainly Maryland series, but it was the first book I have read by this author. I was impressed how KatieAnn didn’t fold when her family, especially her mother wants her to confess to something she never did. She’d been accused as a thief where she worked as a baker. KatieAnn is not going to lie about it when she is innocent of the crime. I was disappointed in her mother’s lack of support, so when KatieAnn goes to visit her sister Rebecca to avoid shunning, it is for the best. I couldn’t stop reading this book because it is well-written and loved how supportive Rebecca is. KatieAnn bonds with Grossmammi Sallie, a lovely and spunky woman. Learning not to judge someone on gossip is an important theme. I highly recommend Plain Truth!

A great read with so much happening throughout the story. I loved catching up with the memorable characters Samantha Price has created in her Amish Bonnet Sisters series! The dialogue is refreshing and fun to read as always. I like how Cherish causes trouble when she tries to help. When she realizes that trouble exists because of her interference, Cherish works to solve the problems. It was nice to read about the more positive relationship developing between Cherish and her mother Wilma.

I haven't been here because I tested positive for COVID and I had pneumonia in both lungs. I had to go to ER for EKG and CT scan. The pain was awful in my chest and my legs hurt a lot. I had no appetite and lost my sense of taste. I was sent home with an oxygen meter. Because I was in a high risk group, I went to hospital for the monoclonial treatment. It helped some. I'm glad my daughters told me to see if I could get the treatment infusion. I hope I never get this again. I also have an extremely low white blood count - even lower than usual. I am still weak and lightedheaded. Tom didn't test positive but I think he had it too. Thankfully, Sara and Amanda didn't get it but a few others in the family did. We might have gotten it after a family Halloween party, but maybe not.
My daughter April came over and fixed us a wonderful dinner. My sister-in-law Denise made us delicious chicken nooddle soup. Another sister-in-law Mary made us yummy vegetable soup. Emily waited on me a lot because she was concerned how I didn't look well. Even though she had COVID, it was a milder case.
I am thankful to God for all of us feeling more normal again.

I am looking forward to the leaves changing to vibrant colors! We have a few trees with some red foliage! My daughter Christina gave me pumpkin ice cream on HER birthday. I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, and ice cream! I baked her a carrot cake and she was here last Sat. to celebrate. We met for brunch first, then came back home. Another daughter Emily celebrated her birthday the day before Christina's. We went for lunch at a Mexican restaurant.
It was crazy when I was pregnant with Emily because her due date was Sept. 15. Christina was in third grade and worried that the baby would be a boy and born on her birthday. I promised her that I would have the baby days before her birthday. Emily was born at 11:49 pm on the 24th. I was cutting it close. It was a suprise that the 5th child would be 9 days late! Right around their birthdays, the weather seems to change. We had a few lower night temperatures but still getting up to the eighties during the day which is unusual for this time of year in southwestern Ohio.
Tomorrow will be the first of October! Unbelievable how fast time goes!

Our grandchildren are back in school. Dillon and Camellia are 4th graders. Elena is in second grade and Lila is in first grade! They enjoyed last week so much that they were disappointed there wasn't school on Labor Day. Dean is in second grade and I'll post his picture as soon as I have it.

We watched grandchildren, Dillon, Elena, and Lila this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Their summer camp ended last week and their school starts next week. Grandpa wanted to do a campout and also have our grandson Dean here for the campout and have one tent for the girls and one for the boys in our back wooded spot. Then we heard the weather forecast of rain and decided to cancel the overnight activity. It did rain a lot so I'm glad we didn't do it then. We enjoyed our time with the grandkids but we were exhausted. I guess we are old because they were only here during the day. I hope they have an awesome school year.
Last Saturday, I picked up a church bulletin and was surprised to see Amanda on the cover of it. I never expected it. Since Amanda keeps getting her picture in various places (she and Sara were featured in another publication a couple years ago too), maybe I should have her on one of my book covers. She has always wanted to be on a book cover ever since our daughter Christina posed for my FLEETING HOPE cover!
As summer continues to move ahead at a fast pace, I realize another birthday is looming for me. I don't look forward to getting older, but definitely excited to share my birthday month with a new granddaughter. My son and my daughter-in-law Kelly are expecting their baby late November. What a blessing! God is good to give us another grandchild to love.
