On August 2, 1975, I married the most wonderful man. When we learned that our first child was born with Down's syndrome, we gave each other the strength to cope with this situation. It hasn't been easy through the years when trials came our way. What's important is we put God first in our marriage, and our faith helped us survive many challenges during our forty years of marriage.
This past Sunday we were happy to celebrate our 40th anniversary with our six wonderful adult children, daughter-in-law, and four adorable little grandchildren. Tom prayed before we ate our dinner and gave thanks for our blessings. Then he said a sweet toast and we clicked our glasses of champagne.
We are going to Hawaii for the first time in the fall. Because Tom had hip replacement surgery this summer, we decided to give him more time for healing before we make this long flight. We appreciate our typical children helping with our two daughters born with Down syndrome so we can get away.
