I enjoyed being with Christina, April, and Amanda when we went to Biltmore in North Carolina last week. We left on the Monday after Christmas. I appreciated April driving us for this 6 hour road trip and Christina making reservations for us at restaurants. The Biltmore village was lovely with all the Christmas lights. Biltmore house had over 60 decorated trees inside. If you haven't gone, it is a great place to see and so much to do!
I paid for tickets to Biltmore for three of our daughters as a Christmas present! One daughter wanted to go but not the week after Christmas. She felt it would be too crowded. I hope she gets to go another time!

These prizes are USD values. If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.) At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs. I’m excited to get the chance to tell you about my book A Gift Forever. It is based on a true childhood event of mine. It is one of my favorite stories I've ever written. If you should read it, I hope the message of God's love and the power of a family's love for each other will touch your heart. Justin Reeves is a man who has it all: a good job, a loving wife and children who are the center of his universe. Justin also has a secret he's hidden from everyone his entire life. Quite innocently his small daughter, Debby, stumbles upon his secret and is shocked by what she finds. She confronts her father with the awful truth. Justin is touched by her concern and offer of help. His own mother never cared about him. Throughout the story, Debby is warm-hearted, yet a bit mischievous. She's also honest and sincere. Debby's father's determination to overcome a challenge is inspiring, but the story also involves the entire Reeves family. Debby’s oldest sister, Gail has a second chance at love, but will she take it? Does Carl possess the conviction to change the course of his life? Will Kathy overcome the handicap of polio? Justin and Debby together embark upon a journey which takes him from the darkness of shame into the light of victory. When he finally accomplishes what he wanted his whole life, Justin reaches out to his family in a special way on Christmas Day. His gift to his wife, three daughters and son impacts them all for a lifetime. ~~ ![]() The prologue and epilogue are both in present time while the middle of the book takes place in 1957. Let’s begin this scavenger hunt! Go to the book on Amazon at this link. You will be taken to A Gift Forever, so you will have no problem finding it in the Look Inside. Find the answer to this question: What was Justin's age when he overcame his disability? When you have the answer, FILL OUT THIS FORM and head on to the next blog! Thank you so much for visiting! The next author on the tour is Rosey Lee, who is telling us all about her Christmas book Beautiful, Complicated Family: Volume 2. You can find it at this link. Remember that the round-robin will end on December 12th at 11:59 PM EST! Irelynn was born yesterday and weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and 19.5 inches. Unforunately, I didn't get to go to the hospital because I had a colonoscopy today. I was drinking all the yucky stuff yesterday. When I rescheduled my procedure, I didn't know Irelynn would be born yesterday. I hope to see her soon! She is so beautiful and we are all blessed to have her in our family!
I can't believe tomorrow is Turkey day. Tom and I feel we lost a few weeks in November from being sick. April and her husband are hosting it this year. April offered when I was ill and didn't want me to do it. I am better now but excited about going to our daughter's house.
Hope everyone has a great time celebrating and are staying healthy. I celebrated my 72nd birthday last Sunday. On Friday, we had a girls' movie night. Christina brough delicious pizza and ice cream, April brought a veggie tray with dip and Amanda and I made brownies. April gave me the beautiful arrangement of orange flowers with a green vase and a gift card. Love it! Then Sunday, Emily ordered a Bob Evans pot roast dinner and she had it delivered to our house! That is one of my favorite dinners so it was wonderful to have it on my birthday. Bart and Kelly brought a vase of flowers on Sunday and a gift card. Tom got me red roses. Amanda and Sara gave me a gift card to Frisch's. I received lovely birthday cards too! I'm thankful for everything! 5 STARS!!!
I loved the main character, KatieAnn Mast, in Susan Lantz Simpson’s book, Plain Truth. It’s Book 3 in her Plainly Maryland series, but it was the first book I have read by this author. I was impressed how KatieAnn didn’t fold when her family, especially her mother wants her to confess to something she never did. She’d been accused as a thief where she worked as a baker. KatieAnn is not going to lie about it when she is innocent of the crime. I was disappointed in her mother’s lack of support, so when KatieAnn goes to visit her sister Rebecca to avoid shunning, it is for the best. I couldn’t stop reading this book because it is well-written and loved how supportive Rebecca is. KatieAnn bonds with Grossmammi Sallie, a lovely and spunky woman. Learning not to judge someone on gossip is an important theme. I highly recommend Plain Truth! A great read with so much happening throughout the story. I loved catching up with the memorable characters Samantha Price has created in her Amish Bonnet Sisters series! The dialogue is refreshing and fun to read as always. I like how Cherish causes trouble when she tries to help. When she realizes that trouble exists because of her interference, Cherish works to solve the problems. It was nice to read about the more positive relationship developing between Cherish and her mother Wilma. 5 stars! Available on Amazon!
I haven't been here because I tested positive for COVID and I had pneumonia in both lungs. I had to go to ER for EKG and CT scan. The pain was awful in my chest and my legs hurt a lot. I had no appetite and lost my sense of taste. I was sent home with an oxygen meter. Because I was in a high risk group, I went to hospital for the monoclonial treatment. It helped some. I'm glad my daughters told me to see if I could get the treatment infusion. I hope I never get this again. I also have an extremely low white blood count - even lower than usual. I am still weak and lightedheaded. Tom didn't test positive but I think he had it too. Thankfully, Sara and Amanda didn't get it but a few others in the family did. We might have gotten it after a family Halloween party, but maybe not.
My daughter April came over and fixed us a wonderful dinner. My sister-in-law Denise made us delicious chicken nooddle soup. Another sister-in-law Mary made us yummy vegetable soup. Emily waited on me a lot because she was concerned how I didn't look well. Even though she had COVID, it was a milder case. I am thankful to God for all of us feeling more normal again. |
