New review for JUDITH'S PLACE! Always nice to have something positive to share!
4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring
"This story opened my eyes more to the Amish community. I love that Judith wants to pursue a dream and until she joins the church is free to go for it. The whole community is inspiring."
By Joann

This has been a hard time with being ill since Feb. My appointment with Dr. Herms (oncologist) was canceled for today. It's been rescheduled for next week. I am anxious because my family doctor thinks I need a CT scan since I am still coughing. It started in Feb. but could still be from the pneumonia I had.

I loved the blend of the Amish and English life. Grief knows no boundaries, effecting us all in much the same way. I love the strength of this family and of this couple.

This was a great read with emotions, love, heartbreak, loss of loved ones, trust, worry; everything a human goes through in life. I enjoyed the book tremendously and would recommend her books to anyone ages 15 to 100.

After her mother’s untimely death, a twenty-year-old Amish woman has a difficult decision to make: Choose to break from the Plain community and her boyfriend and live in the English world permanently...or join the Amish church.

Rachel Hershberger wants to get away from her Amish home in Fields Corner, Ohio. For a year she’s been trying to fill her mother’s shoes by taking care of her father and siblings. She quit her job at the bakery so she would have more time to clean and cook at home. Before her mother died, Rachel was positive she wanted to marry Samuel Weaver, but now she can’t think about wedding plans. She blames her father for her mother’s death. If they had installed a phone in their barn or a shanty, her mother might have received medical help in time to save her life. Her mother’s death has made Rachel question if she should be baptized and join the church. She wonders if non-Amish women live longer and have less stress. Maybe her forty-four-year-old mother would still be alive had she left the Amish lifestyle like her sister Carrie did. When her Aunt Carrie invites her to go to the beach, Rachel decides the time away will help her to decide whether to join the Amish church or to live in the English world. She is conflicted because she loves Samuel and her family. Instead of a relaxing time away, disturbing events happen while Rachel’s in Florida. A photographer snaps troublesome pictures of Rachel because of her famous senator uncle, and a handsome and charming college student falls in love with Rachel.

Bengals Going to the Superbowl!

2/1/2022

I predicted to my family that the Bengals would beat these teams during the playoffs - Titans, Raiders and Kansas Chiefs! And woohoo they did! I also predict our Bengals team will beat the Rams when they play them for the LVI Super Bowl! Some Cincinnati schools are going to have a calamity day on February 14th because they think the Bengals will win the Super Bowl.

I had a lot of appointments this month for me and our daughters, Sara and Amanda. I still have low white blood count so have to continue seeing my oncologist every 3 months for blood work. I asked to have a CT scan and contrast once a year instead of every 6 months. I am thankful that I got that changed. It seems like by now, I shouldn't still have low WBC. I get sick more often because of it and I can't get rid of my warts with the compromised immune system.  I never had any until my chemo started in 2019. I have gone 7 times to get rid of them. Even cutting them off has not done it and putting acid in them didn't keep them away. I have a lot of pain with the treatments and pain radiates up my finger nerves. The dermalogist said as long as I have low WBC, I won't be able to get rid of them. I want to eventually try laser surgery.

I had a chat with my agent last week. It was nice catching up with her. She thinks I might have Book 1 in my new series releasing this year instead of 2023. I'll update as soon as I know anything.

January Birthdays!!!

We had a special weekend celebrating two January birthdays!!! Our daughter Amanda turned 32 yesterday. On Friday, we had a girls' movie night with Christina and April to celebrate Amanda's birthday. We had pizza, brownies, a cheese ball and crackers. Then Sat. night we went to O'Charleys after church. I'm afraid it was a disappointment. Their food didn't seem as good as it has been in the past. Amanda had a Snapdragon basketball game this Sunday afternoon and she scored 3 baskets. We enjoyed going to Dillon's party this evening. He is 10 today. I still remember how great it was seeing him born ten years ago - he was our first grandchild.

Went to Biltmore, NC!

I paid for tickets to Biltmore for three of our daughters as a Christmas present! One daughter wanted to go but not the week after Christmas. She felt it would be too crowded. I hope she gets to go another time!

I enjoyed being with Christina, April, and Amanda when we went to Biltmore in North Carolina last week. We left on the Monday after Christmas. I appreciated April driving us for this 6 hour road trip and Christina making reservations for us at restaurants. The Biltmore village was lovely with all the Christmas lights. Biltmore house had over 60 decorated trees inside. If you haven't gone, it is a great place to see and so much to do!

Here’s how it works: At each author’s blog post, you will find a question that can be answered by checking out the free Amazon preview of their book. Provide the answer at this form. Note:
You must answer the questions for every author in the round -robin to be considered to win the $250 first place, $150 second place or $100 third place Amazon gift cards. These prizes are USD values. If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.)

At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs.

I’m excited to get the chance to tell you about my book A Gift Forever. It is based on a true childhood event of mine. It is one of my favorite stories I've ever written. If you should read it, I hope the message of God's love and the power of a family's love for each other will touch your heart.

Justin Reeves is a man who has it all: a good job, a loving wife and children who are the center of his universe. Justin also has a secret he's hidden from everyone his entire life. Quite innocently his small daughter, Debby, stumbles upon his secret and is shocked by what she finds. She confronts her father with the awful truth. Justin is touched by her concern and offer of help. His own mother never cared about him.

Throughout the story, Debby is warm-hearted, yet a bit mischievous. She's also honest and sincere. Debby's father's determination to overcome a challenge is inspiring, but the story also involves the entire Reeves family. Debby’s oldest sister, Gail has a second chance at love, but will she take it? Does Carl possess the conviction to change the course of his life? Will Kathy overcome the handicap of polio?

Justin and Debby together embark upon a journey which takes him from the darkness of shame into the light of victory. When he finally accomplishes what he wanted his whole life, Justin reaches out to his family in a special way on Christmas Day. His gift to his wife, three daughters and son impacts them all for a lifetime.

Let’s begin this scavenger hunt! Go to the book on Amazon at this link. You will be taken to A Gift Forever, so you will have no problem finding it in the Look Inside.

Find the answer to this question:

What was Justin's age when he overcame his disability?

When you have the answer, FILL OUT THIS FORM and head on to the next blog!

Thank you so much for visiting! The next author on the tour is Rosey Lee, who is telling us all about her Christmas book Beautiful, Complicated Family: Volume 2. You can find it at this link.  Remember that the round-robin will end on December 12th at 11:59 PM EST!
