“For Diabetes Research”

adifferentkindofhonesty_w646_300try3.jpg

Jane Richardson’s son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She shared her personal experience with diabetes on Kathleen Grieve’s blog this past Monday. Click here to read it. Jane’s going to double and donate money from the sale of her contemporary love story, A Different Kind of Honesty, to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. If you buy the book, you’ll be helping raise funds for diabetes research. I haven’t read her book yet but she’s received great reviews for it. Click here to buy this book and help a worthy cause! It’s available now for $6.00 in e-book format and in October will be released in print.

Also Brenda Novak has a wonderful online auction for diabetes research!

There’s an excerpt at The Wild Rose Press for Jane’s book plus another excerpt on her website. Here is a blurb for Jane’s book:

Always the one who ends relationships before they’ve barely begun, it’s way out of character for Maggie Lawless to take a risk with a man she hardly knows. But when she meets a man in a seedy New York City diner, she senses a truth about him, a sincerity like no-one she’s ever met before.

Tony Valentino is an FBI agent fresh from a long-term undercover operation that’s left his life in tatters. His marriage over, separated from his children and with nowhere to call home, he’s frustrated and angry. All that keeps him going is the sweet memory of a brief encounter with a beautiful woman, though it wakes him from crazy dreams that leave his mouth dry and his sheets soaked with sweat. When he meets her again, it’s obvious the fire that burned so briefly between them never really went out…but as their affair rekindles, both Tony and Maggie find the very people they thought they could trust are the first to turn against them.

I thought I had a title for my new book. Joan Lunden talked about her Direct TV show “Hometown Heroes” so I thought of “Hometown Girl” but I just checked on Amazon to see if this title’s been used. It was used by two other authors. So much for that…need to get back to writing before I start doing housework!

What a wonderful cause that I can identify with. My older brother was diagnosed at age 5. He lived until he was 57. It runs in our family. God bless her and her son. Thanks,Cindi

  2. Jane Richardson Says:

Diane, thank you! I know you said you’d mention this, but I didn’t expect you to go to this much trouble! You’re very kind, thank you. :)

I’m sorry diabetes runs in your family, Cindi. We’ve been blessed and it’s not in our immediate family.

I was just going to email you, Jane, to tell you I blogged about your book - thanks for stopping by and hope you sell lots of books. What you are doing is very generous and for such a worthy cause.

  5. Patty L. Says:

I have type 2 diabetes and unfortunately it runs on both sides of my family. Since I have been working out regularly my numbers have decreased enough that I’m hoping I can stop taking my medicine.

I remember when my doctor told me that I had it, I actually felt sorry for myself and then I thought of all of my family members that had to deal with it most of their lives and I felt better. I know that with diet and exercise I can stave it off for a long time. Hopefully, I won’t get as bad as my parents.

Another words, congrats to Jane for donating so much to research and Diane for bringing it to our attention.

  6. Diane Says:

    Patty,
Thanks for sharing about your type 2 diabetes. I’m so glad exercising on a regular basis has helped decrease your numbers. I hope you can stop taking your medicine - that would be wonderful!
