As many of you know, we were blessed with 6 awesome children. Sara and Amanda were born with Down syndrome and Sara also has severe OCD. By the way, I have a book about how to cope with a baby with special needs. My faith, husband and writing got me through what was at times a bit overwhelming.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary this weekend since we were married on August 2nd. We have gotten away for a weekend occasionally but it’s hard so doesn’t happen often. Two of our children are taking Sara and Amanda for the weekend so we can experience what it’s like to be empty nesters in our own home. We are going for bike rides, hiking (Amanda hates hiking), and hang out by the pool. And enjoy the quiet.

It will be good for Sara and Amanda to spend time away from us and have a change, too. So I won’t be around because I want to enjoy quality time with the love of my life!
