Memorial Day Thankfulness!

memorial-day-cartoon

Memorial Day is a great day for picnics, parades and to have family get-togethers, but the real reason for the holiday is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. It’s a day to remember the men and women throughout history that have had the courage to face circumstances most of us cannot imagine or endure.

Here are a few quotes about courage:

Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid and act anyway.
~Robert Anthony

Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared half to death.
~General Omar Bradley

One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.
~Maya Angelou

Thanks,Dru. Hope you have a good one, too. It’s probably going to rain here and of course, we plan on celebrating by a picnic and swimming. :)

It turned out great - they said 60% chance of thunderstorms but it was sunny and hot. Great for swimming. :)

Anyone watch the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?I decided to read the book again before going to this movie as well as I must point out, they stayed really close to the story-line with the book, even so, I feel like that they edited out a few major factors or elements as well as some details had been altered for movie settings which I would like they would not have. Mostly silly details, however ones which were definitely appropriate and made things fall together a little better.
