Happy Monday!

I’m posting late today because I worked on the first round of edits of MARRYING MALLORY this morning and early afternoon! I added a romantic scene that I like a lot and hope my editor does, too! I deleted some stuff that no longer should be in since I made changes in the story line. I can see now where the revisions requested by my editor is going to make the book better. So it’s been a happy day for me to get the first round off to her.

When Amanda came home this afternoon, she wanted to get a birthday present for a friend in her class. I put meatloaf in the oven and we went to the store. She got a Jonas Brothers CD for her friend’s birthday. On the way home, Amanda mentioned again (I hear this several times a week) how she wants to drive. I do believe people with handicaps should be given the opportunities to do as many things as possible as typical people. I remember when I used to watch Corky in “Life Goes On” played by Chris Burke. a delightful Down syndrome actor. His girlfriend in the show drove and picked Corky up to go places, and she also was born with Down syndrome. But Amanda is not going to be able to drive. Ever. I just don’t see her being capable of doing this, so it’s hard because she wants to drive. I keep telling her how independent she can be without driving a car. Of course, she doesn’t buy it!

I went bike riding this weekend but didn’t enjoy it. Too much traffic on our rural road.

All three of my football teams won. Woohoo! OSU beat Penn State, Univ. of Cincinnati beat Univ. of Connecticut, and the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens!

Hi Diane! I am glad to hear that you are liking your revisions. I can only imagine how much easier it makes it. LOL

Tell Amanda that driving is not all it’s cracked up to be. You have to pay for gas, insurance and car payments. Public transportation is cheaper all around.

  2. Diane Says:

    Hi Patty,
I hope the second round of edits will be easier. LOL

I told Amanda it’s not fun driving - it’s stressful and all the expenses, but she still wants to drive. Unfortunately, she’s so persistent.

Good luck on those revisions. Sounds like you’re optimistic about them, and that’s always a plus. :)

I remember Corky from “Life Goes On”. I really liked the show until it shifted off Corky over to Becca’s new boyfriend. Totally lost my interest after that.

I’m glad you’re feeling more positive about the edits. And good luck with Amanda!

  5. Diane Says:

    Thanks, Miss Mae and Marianne!

I remember not liking “Life Goes On” as well later. I didn’t like Becca’s one boyfriend. It’s not going to be easy to convince Amanda that she can’t drive. She wants to do it all!

  6. Ceri Says:

Paige wants to drive too! It breaks my heart to think she’ll not be able to. There’s so much she wants to do. I hope she’ll be able to do most of it. I hope Amanda will to.

    Good luck with the edits!

  7. Diane Says:

    Hi Ceri,
It’s so rough because they hear kids in their age group talk about driving. I hope the best for Paige, too!

Gail, my editor and publisher, loves my revisions. Woohoo! Good luck with your writing challenge!
