“The Gatecrasher”

Over the weekend I read “The Gatecrasher” by Madeleine Wickham. She also writes under the name of Sophia Kinsella, author of the best-selling Shopaholic Series. By the way, a new movie “Confessions of a Shopaholic” is going to be in theatres on February 13th, which is based on the first book in this series. Rebecca Bloom is a wonderful character in the shopaholic books and will be played by Isla Fisher.
I have to tell you a funny story of how I happened to read “The Gatecrasher” because it wasn’t one of the ones I bought or checked out of the library. I happened to be looking thru the stack of books Amanda had checked out of the library. She was born with Down syndrome with a fun personality. She loves books but sometimes she goes by the book covers in making her selection. See, book covers are very important!
She loves my No Greater Loss book cover and has it by her bed. She’s a romantic at heart, so I think that’s probably one reason she likes the NGL cover. Now, the Gatecrasher cover doesn’t have a couple on the cover but is pink. She seems to choose a lot of books with bright pink colors. Well, I took a closer look and was surprised to see that Wickham also wrote under Kinsella. I’ve been reading Kinsella for years and she’s one of my favorite authors.
I’m glad “The Gatecrasher” has a pink and green color because it was a great read with memorable characters!

I agree that covers are very important…they’re the first thing I pay attention to, along with the title.

I love covers with color. I have noticed lately that the darker cover is coming back and I personally don’t care for them. LOL I love a nice carefree, love story and black and white covers don’t send off that vibe.
I have never read any of the Shopholic books. Now I will have to so I have something to compare to the movie. GIGGLE
