A Writer’s Sweatshirt!

Friday, December 30th, 2011

writer-sweatshirt

dsc00202

My sister-in-law, Mary, gave me this sweatshirt for my birthday last month! It aptly phrases what all of us writers think when we meet an interesting person or overhear conversations that we know might be useful in writing a piece of dialogue in our new novel. Writers are like sponges. We are constantly listening to others in so many places. Something might spark our creative minds at our child’s graduation, church function, the mall or a beauty shop. A writer never stops observing others. We are always on call. :)

So as the sweatshirt says, “Careful, Or You’ll End Up in My Novel.” If you didn’t already want to read my books, this might give you a reason to. LOL

And Happy New Year, Everyone!

A Sweet Christmas Romance!

al-snow_angel

I enjoyed reading Adelle Laudan’s new novella, SNOW ANGEL! It’s only $2.99 and is a great read for the holiday season. I could picture the cabin and snowy mountain landscape because of her wonderful descriptions. The characters, Jenna and Jack, are well-developed for a short story. If you want a sweet, feel-good romance, this is definitely one you should choose.

BLURB FOR SNOW ANGEL:
Jack lives in the middle of a winter wonderland between a popular Ski Resort and the Canadian border. Jenna is running from an overbearing father trying to dictate a husband for her. When Jack sees a car crash through the guardrail on a mountain road, he holds little hope of finding anyone alive. With the help of Sasha and Tito, Jack’s trained Siberian Huskies, they find a survivor buried in the snow. A new woman in his life is the last thing Jack wants, but there’s something about this feisty red head he finds very hard to ignore.

A Nice Visit!

achristmasgift_200

I was asked to speak again this year to the 8th grade students at St. Louis School about writing and my Christmas story. I think it was back in 2003 when the Language Arts teacher, Mr. Albino, put the order in to buy thirty-three copies of THE CHRISTMAS OF 1957 for his students to read. While Mr. Albino taught at St. Louis, I went to talk to the classes each year around this time. Then he left and took a principal position in another city. Another teacher started the tradition two years ago. This year’s teacher, Mrs. Bernhart, invited me to visit yesterday. I enjoyed meeting her and speaking with this year’s eighth grade class.

The 8th graders asked fantastic questions. I enjoyed hearing their feedback about my book. I took a copy of the newer version of my Christmas story which is titled A CHRISTMAS GIFT. It’s basically the same story except a bit longer with a new chapter plus the epilogue includes more about the main character, Debby Reeves, as a heart surgeon. The prologue and epilogue take place in present time while the rest of the book takes place in 1957. I’m happy that Whimsical Publications is the publisher for A CHRISTMAS GIFT. It’s in paperback and ebook. If you buy it from my publisher, the paperback is now only $6.95. Click here to purchase from Whimsical Publications. Also 10% off the ebook price on WP. It sells for $7.95 on Amazon and the ebook is $3.99. I hope you consider buying A CHRISTMAS GIFT. If you’d like to read any reviews for A CHRISTMAS GIFT, click here to go to my Amazon page or to the home page of my website. Thanks ahead.
