What day is it?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I started another post but won’t be able to finish it. Hopefully, I will find time to complete it for tomorrow.

Amanda and I had a nice day yesterday. We got her lab work out of the way which needed to be done for her thyroid medication. After that we did a little shopping, went to the library, played basketball outside and watched a little TV. She was pretty excited about getting High School musical paperbacks with Troy on the covers at the library. She also picked up “The Perfect Man” with Hillary Duff and Heather Locklear. She loves that movie. Then last night at 11:00 she suddenly said she felt sick. She vomited ALL night every hr. and sometimes it was every 30 minutes. And she also had a bad case of diarrhea. The last time she threw up was late this morning. She just ate a little jello. I have had little sleep. I had planned on taking her swimming today at the Y but forget that now.

I had the flu before Christmas but I heard exactly what Amanda has now is going around in our area. I am hoping Sara and Emily won’t get the flu.

So what day is it? I guess Tuesday - everything is a blur right now. It’s a good thing mothers can function with little sleep.

Hope everyone is staying well!

Christmas Traditions!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

christmas-2.bmp

A Christmas Eve tradition at our house is to go to 5:00 Mass, then return home to eat lasagne, and open one gift. Amanda served again this year at 5:00, and Father Jerry bragged on how well she did. I’m posting a picture of her carrying the cross. This year was different because only three of us were in the pew together. April’s townhouse roof leaked water all Tuesday night and Wednesday, but she still managed to come to our house for dinner. She was worn out with emptying water tubs all night. Our daughter Christina couldn’t make it in time for early church with us so went with Emily to Midnight Mass. Emily put the lasagne in the oven for me so it’d be ready when we got home. Our son Bart will be here on Christmas Day as well as the others so that will be nice.

I need to get off here and fill stockings. :)

Mini Biography

Date of Birth: August 19, 1963

John Stamos’ original family name is Stamotopoulos, which was shortened by his grandparents when they came to America from Greece. His parents are Bill & Loretta (Phillips), and he has two younger sisters, Janeen & Alaina, both school teachers. His first professional role was as Blackie Parrish on the daytime soap, “General Hospital” (1982-1984), which turned into a 2-year role, for which he won two Soap Opera Digest Awards (1982 & 1983).

Trivia
Dated his “General Hospital” (1963) co-star Demi Moore.

Chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world [1990]

He purchased a Disneyland entrance sign for over $30,000.

Dated Paula Abdul. Once said that if it wasn’t for the media, they would still be together.

In real life he is very close to Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, who played his niece Michelle on “Full House” (1987).

Was considered for the role of Cyclops on X-Men (2000). The part ultimately went to James Marsden.

Plays the drums, and was the touring drummer for The Beach Boys at one time.

He and his ex-wife Rebecca Romijn, have both guest-starred on the TV show “Friends” (1994), though not in the same episode.

His father was of Greek heritage, and his mother is of Irish and English heritage.

Was the first to announce his departure from “Full House” (1987) after the eighth season because of his disapproval of the shows planned move from ABC to the WB after the eighth season. Candace Cameron Bure (then yet Candace Cameron) also planned on the eighth season being her last so that she could go to college, so the rest of the cast and crew decided that, instead of having a ninth season, the eighth season on ABC would be the last one for “Full House” (1987).

Shares the same birthday with “Friends” (1994) co-star Matthew Perry

Loves Elvis Presley.

From 2005 - 2008 has been in 53 episodes of “ER” as Dr. Tony Gates.

Quotes:

John Stamos played Uncle Jesse on the ’80s sitcom “Full House.” Now he wants to be a father.

“If I don’t have kids soon, I am going to adopt,” the 44-year-old actor told OK! magazine. “Even if I do have kids, I think I will (adopt). I always thought to myself that I would be a better father later on in life.”

Hope everyone is staying well. I became ill Thursday night with a virus. I finally feel better today. I lost 5 pounds but should have lost more since I only ate toast and jello. My hubby was sick but didn’t have it as bad. I hope no on else in the family gets it.

Mommy’s Letter to Santa

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

xsnow-4.gif

It’s getting late and Amanda will be home in another hour. She had a two hr. delay this morning because of the icy roads. We had snow yesterday but only a couple of inches.

I finished my Christmas cards - yea! Then Tom and I went Christmas shopping. I see an end in sight. I only have an exchange gift and one gift card to buy yet. Woohoo! Most of my gifts are wrapped. I wrapped them as I brought them home!

I have read this letter before to Santa but is cute so posting it. I especially like the part about the jeans - although I buy the stretchy jeans now so that makes my life more manageable while getting dressed. :) I don’t have any small children now, but I can certainly remember those days with love, fondness and maybe a little bit of relief that I survived!

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a good mom all year. I’ve fed, cleaned and cuddled my children
on demand, visited the doctor’s office more than my doctor and sold
sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on
the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over
several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son’s red
crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and
who knows when I’ll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I’d like a pair of legs that don’t ache (in any color, except purple,
which I already have) and arms that don’t hurt or flap in the breeze,
but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle
in the grocery store.

I’d also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month
of my last pregnancy.

If you’re hauling big ticket items this year I’d like fingerprint
resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music, a television
that doesn’t broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a
refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can
hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, “Yes,
Mommy” to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don’t
fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the
use of power tools.

I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting “Don’t eat in the
living room” and “Take your hands off your brother,” because my voice
seems to be just out of my children’s hearing range and can only be
heard by the dog.

If it’s too late to find any of these products, I’d settle for enough
time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the
luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being
served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don’t mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten
the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a
vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if
you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding
payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet
under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a
safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in
and dry off so you don’t catch cold.

Help yourself to cookies on the table but don’t eat too many or leave
crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always,

MOM…

P.S. One more thing…you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my
children young enough to believe in Santa.

*Santa has asked that this gets passed on to all the mommies you know

Bad time shopping

Monday, December 15th, 2008

I did not have a good experience shopping at Wal-Mart today. I should’ve have left early this morning before it got crowded with Christmas shoppers. Unfortunately, I didn’t get there until noon after making a few stops to other stores for gifts. Also we are to get snow and freezing rain tonight and tomorrow so probably another reason for a Monday to be so busy.

The lines were long and when it was my turn, the cashier kept scanning the bar code on a DVD and it would not show the item and price. After she tried several times, I told her I’d just pick it up later. There was a long line behind me. But no she was determined to ring it up - well she did 5 times except it didn’t show up on the screen more than once. She asked me the price and typed it in. When she was done and said my bill was $180 and something, I knew that couldn’t be right. Anyhow my DVD was on the receipt 5 times. She couldn’t just take it off for me because she had already completed the sale. Then I had to wait in another line to get it straightened out and they had trouble because with this DVD you were to get a $5 gift card to Wal-Mart. Finally, the Wal-Mart employee got my credit done.

I can’t give the title of the DVD; my daughter might read this post - it’s one of her gifts! :) And I hope she enjoys it!

I’ll go to Kroger’s the next time.

Besides waiting in line, I am waiting to hear from an agent about my Mallory partial. She requested it in November and told me it would take her 3-4 weeks to get back to me. I haven’t heard anything, but I’m sure she’s busy with her clients, submissions and so much to do during the holiday season. I really love this story and hope to get a publisher for it in 2009.

I also had two publishers ask me to rewrite Whitney and resubmit it. Both mentioned writing a book about each sister instead of focusing on all three in one manuscript. I still have another publisher considering a full so will see what she thinks.
