“Author Picture”

141-authors.JPG

Here is the photo taken of the authors attending the 2008 Reader and Author Get Together given by Lori Foster and Dianne Castell! I noticed some authors are missing. Can you pick out your favorite authors from the photo? I know it is pretty small and blurry. The photographer emailed this one to me.

I just noticed my website designer, Amy Knupp, is in back of me to the left side when you look at the photo. She’s a tiny blonde! She writes for the Superromance line at Harlequin. I’m the one with the dark hair on the far right. My friend, Shelley Galloway, is in front of me in the red blouse. I can’t believe it’s over but was nice having it in the beginning of June.

Tomorrow I’ll draw a winner for Lori’s book!

Good news - I have chapter ten done. Tom’s hip replacement surgery is coming up so quickly - it’s next week. Today he’s going to a session at the hospital about the therapy after surgery. He had one pre-op appointment on Friday with his cardiologist and tomorrow he has an appointment for another pre-op with his regular doctor. I’m glad he’s getting it done because he’s been in so much pain for a long time.

Vote Today!

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Go to The Long and Short Of it today (Sunday - last day) to vote for what you think is the best book after reading the reviews. I voted for Sarita Leone’s book, VINEYARD MAMBO published by Whiskey Creek Press. This is on my list to read this summer. Click here to vote! Vineyard Mambo is also a Fallen Angel Reviews Recommended Read!

BLURB FOR VINEYARD MAMBO:

Mambo. Merlot. Murder.
Who killed Milton Falls’ nastiest neighbor? And why? Anna Romeo, vineyard owner and librarian, wants to know.

Used to be doors went unlocked, neighbors visited on porches and gossip centered around who had the biggest zucchini. Now that murder’s come calling all bets are off. Arson, burglary and cryptic tea leaf messages fill Anna’s days—and nights—with love, mystery and adventure.

Can Anna unlock the key to the murder that’s got everyone on edge? And, more importantly, can she do it quickly enough for the annual Zucchini Festival to go on as planned?

Only time—and a bit of luck—will tell.

I meant to get this posted earlier but had trouble with wordpress - very strange. I am not a technical person so not sure what was wrong.

see-no-evil-art-large.jpg

My plan was to post early this morning when I got up at 5, but instead I finished Chapter 9 and got a good start on Chapter 10. I wish I could think of a great title for my Mallory book. Actually I have thought of several, but then see books by the same titles on Amazon. Then I went through more items to pitch or give away. And cleaning took more time than I wanted to spend on it. A cleaning lady would be great! :) The day has gone by so quickly. And can you believe it will be July in a few days? I’m afraid the summer will be over too soon.

Remember the “Author Week” I had back in March to celebrate small publishers, and I bought the e-books by these authors? I started reading them according to the day of the week they were featured. I just finished reading the third one and it was Miss Mae’s historical mystery, SEE NO EVIL, MY PRETTY LADY. I never guessed the murderer and I have read other mysteries where I have. I’m glad I bought it. Her short book is well-written and I had to finish it instead of writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend you read this novel. I loved her descriptions. Miss Mae made me feel like I was right there with the characters. I felt like I was experiencing everything they did. Also I liked the sweet romance between wealthy Gareth and new maid Dorcy.

The setting is London’s famous fog which makes it spooky as it wraps around the characters. The pacing is wonderful and never falters. The characters have to go to a small deserted island because of a will request so that adds to the mystery.

It’s only $3.00 so head over to The Wild Rose Press and buy it!

Reminder: Will be drawing a lucky winner on July 1st to receive Lori Foster’s urban fantasy! Each time you post a comment here on my blog, your name is entered!

HAPPY FRIDAY AND HAPPY WEEKEND!

“Hottie of the Week”

I never watched “That ’70s Show” but after seeing Ashton Kutcher in WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, I decided to have him be a hottie on my blog. His good looks and goofball appeal along with Cameron Diaz made the movie so much fun to watch!

He was born on February 7, 1978 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His twin brother, Michael, was born with a mild form of cerebral palsy. In the middle of his parents’ divorce, Michael, 13, received a life-saving emergency heart transplant after suffering from a viral heart inflammation and going into cardiac arrest. “Ashton never left my side,” Michael, now healthy, later told PEOPLE. “He showed me the love one brother has for another.” Ashton Kutcher won a Fresh Faces modeling contest in 1997, so left the University of Iowa for New York. After a brief turn strutting for Calvin Klein, Kutcher landed his breakthrough role as airhead Michael Kelso in “That ’70s Show.”

He married Demi Moore in 2005. She’s 16 years his senior and her children call Kutcher MOD, short for “my other dad.”

Ashton Kutcher: Five Fun Facts

A self-proclaimed guy’s guy, Ashton Kutcher says he’d prefer to shave his head so he wouldn’t have to deal with his hair.

Ashton Kutcher has two webbed toes.

Ashton Kutcher wore a tie to work on the set of the television series That ’70’s show. As he explained to In Style, “It’s a way to keep things in perspective. Acting can be so much fun that it’s easy to forget that what you’re doing is a job. But if I’ve got my tie on, I’m going to work.”

Ashton Kutcher’s older sister Tausha used to apply makeup on her sleeping brother when they were kids.

Ashton Kutcher loves homemade strawberry milkshakes with extra ice cream.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ASHTON KUTCHER FOR BEING DIANE’S HOTTIE OF THE WEEK!

Last evening Tom showed me how to mow the lawn using the riding lawn mower. For years we used the push mower on our large yard, and it was just last year that we purchased a riding one. Tom’s going to have hip replacement surgery in July so I need to take this job over for him. I’m still trying to fit medical appointments in before our excellent health insurance ends.

Enjoy your day - hope it’s a good one!

“For Sale”

Our brick Cape Cod house is for sale.

In the back of house is Tom’s hot bed for the plants he starts in the spring.

We used to raise pigs, chickens and turkeys! We also have ten acres - woods and fields.

I do hate to leave our pool. Since 2004, it’s been great for family celebrations!

play-area.bmp
Tom built this play area for our six children. Neighbor children also enjoyed it!

How was everyone’s weekend?

Ours was busy going through twenty years of stuff in the basement, shed and a little in other rooms. We made a start in bagging up items to give away or to put in trash on garbage day. April took out several things for us, and she organized the basement so it will be easier for us to decide what to do with the rest. We’ve accumulated so much from our large family of eight living here. April did find love letters that Tom and I wrote to each other before we were married. I can’t believe they were in the basement too!

We just put the for sale sign out a week ago and haven’t put any ads in the paper yet. We have a contract on a one floor brick ranch house which is only 4 years old in a beautiful setting. We are grateful to the owners for giving us time to sell our house.

Lea and Emily cleaned off several bicycles and rolled them to the street. We also gave some beds we had stored in the basement to an organization that picks up items for the homeless. Bart gave some help after he finished doing auto work. I’m glad we made a little progress. After we worked most of the day, we went swimming.

What I’m reading right now: Miss Mae’s See No Evil, My Pretty Lady

Hottie of the Week: will be posted this week -I’ve missed a few weeks!

Writing Progress on Mallory book: I want to finish Chapter Nine today! Amanda had a dentist appointment, and I did other errands this morning. Hopefully, this afternoon will be productive. I love this book and wish I could just work on it. I’d love to get it finished this summer and get query letters out to agents and editors.
