How children perceive their Grandparents……

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she’d done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, “But Grandma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!” I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye….

2 My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 80. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, “Did you start at 1?”

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice,
“Who was THAT?”

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. “We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.”
The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, “I sure wish I’d gotten to know you sooner!”

5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, “Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?” I mentally polished my halo and I said, “No, how are we alike?” “You’re both old,” he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather’s word processor. She told him she was writing a story.
“What’s it about?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” she replied. “I can’t read.”

7. I didn’t know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, “Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these colors yourself!”

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, “It’s no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights.”

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, “I’m not sure.” “Look in your underwear, Grandpa,” he advised “Mine says I’m 4 to 6.”

10.. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, “Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today.” The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. “That’s interesting.” she said… “How do you make babies?”
“It’s simple,” replied the girl. “You just change ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘es’.”

11. Children’s Logic: “Give me a sentence about a public servant,” said a teacher. The small boy wrote: “The fireman came down the ladder pregnant.” The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. “Don’t you know what pregnant means?” she asked.
“Sure,” said the young boy confidently. ‘It means carrying a child.”

12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog’s duties.
“They use him to keep crowds back,” said one child.
“No,” said another. “He’s just for good luck..”
A third child brought the argument to a close.”They use the dogs,” she said firmly, “to find the fire hydrants.”

13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. “Oh,” he said, “she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we’re done having her visit, we take her back to the airport.”

14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don’t get to see him enough to get as smart as him!

15. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.

“I really enjoyed this story. He is a widow with a 7 yr. old son. She is single. They are both named Smith, so the real estate agent assumes they are married and sets up an appointment to see a duplex at the same time. They both have plans to live in one side and rent out the other for income. Of course, you can tell where this is going. It was a fun read and I enjoyed every bit of it. Good fun read and I highly recommend it. Naturally there is a HEA. Definitely a feel good read.” By Gatorfan

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance with Great Family Relationships
I loved the relationship between the sisters, the teasing and the support. Ms. Craver did an awesome job with the hero(es) in the story. Love the love triangle aspect, though it was a toss up as to which guy to root for! Lovely romance with a bit of humor and lots of tugging at the heartstrings. Can’t wait to start my next Diane Craver book!

Progress on Judith’s Place (Dreams of Plain Daughters, Book Two) - I finished Chapter Eight before I started a new scoring project. We finished OGT Science on Monday and today was training for Alaska writing project. I like it a lot and is much better than science…for me anyhow.

Well, yesterday I finished the OGT science project - it lasted a month and it’s nice to be home today and tomorrow. Thursday I start a new scoring project and it will be Alaska writing.

I wrote a review today for a wonderful book in the Sterling Lakes Series! Here’s my review:

I enjoyed reading Regina Andrews’ outstanding debut novel, Light of the Heart, in her Sterling Lakes Series about the talented stained glass artist Cascade Preston and project manager Dan McQuay. Andrews has created wonderful characters and a lively, interesting plot in Book One. Cascade’s unhappy childhood gave her a strong reason for not wanting to return to Sterling Lakes to design and make stained glass windows for St. Luke’s church. Fortunately, her cousin and employee, Abby, turns a bid in for the job and forges Cascade’s name. Abby realizes Cascade needs to face her past, even though it will be painful. Dan also has personal problems that must be resolved so he can move on to have a happier life.

The scenes are remarkable where Cascade visits the women in Tanglewood Women’s Prison and gives them positive feedback on their stained glass assignments. It adds a depth to the character I appreciated. On one particular visit, the women in prison accuse Cascade of holding the church renovation up by refusing to do the stained glass job. As she leaves the prison, Cascade realizes she might be in her own personal prison.

I love Ms. Andrews’ writing, and I’m sure Book Two in the Sterling Lakes Series will be another great story to enjoy.

Yours or Mine was previously published under the title Your Place or Mine, but I recently decided to get my rights backs so I could self-publish it. I added a scene, a new cover and I’m excited about it.

Here’s the blurb:
Twenty-eight Sydney Smith decides it’s time to move out of her tiny apartment and become a homeowner. Blake Smith, no relation, also wants to see the duplex. A mix-up has them viewing it together. They both love the house. Sparks fly between the handsome engineer and the beautiful columnist. Sydney wonders if she should mention home buying as a way to meet someone in her column, “Sydney’s Sassy Suggestions to Singles.” A highly sensual story of fun, home buying, romance and love.

BLURB:

After her mother’s untimely death, a twenty-year-old Amish woman has a difficult decision to make: Choose to break from the Plain community and her boyfriend to live in the English world permanently…or join the Amish church.

Rachel Hershberger wants to get away from her Amish home in Fields Corner, Ohio. For a year she’s been trying to fill her mother’s shoes by taking care of her father and siblings. She had quit her job at the bakery so she would have more time to clean and cook at home. Before her mother died, Rachel was positive she wanted to marry Samuel Weaver, but now she can’t think about wedding plans. She blames her father for her mother’s death. If they had installed a phone in their barn or a shanty, her mother might have received medical help in time to save her life. Her mother’s death has made Rachel question if she should be baptized and join the church. She wonders if non-Amish women live longer and have less stress. Maybe her forty-four-year old mother would still be alive had she left the Amish lifestyle like her sister Carrie did.

When her Aunt Carrie invites her to go to the beach, Rachel decides the time away will help her to decide whether to join the Amish church or to live in the English world instead. She is conflicted because she loves Samuel and her family. Instead of a relaxing time away, disturbing events happen while Rachel’s in Florida. A photographer snaps troublesome pictures of Rachel because of her famous senator uncle, and a handsome and charming college student falls in love with Rachel.

Coffee Time Romance Reader’s Award!

“I am a big fan of Amish romance. Just like so many others, their lifestyle fascinates me. The more I read, the more I find what Ms. Craver and others say is true, i.e. that each Amish order is different and hosts different rules, so some may be stricter than others. Reading A Joyful Break truly showed another side from what I have normally read. The struggles Rachel goes through make this story well worth reading, allowing the reader to connect with Rachel and others, as if it was their own life. Definitely a to-buy book.”

Busy day and I meant to get this posted this morning. I took Amanda to her job at Frisch’s, went to the grocery stores, dropped off the food and put everything away. Then Tom and I went to get Amanda and ate lunch with her at Frisch’s. She works two hours on Thursday and loves it. We are thankful that with her special needs, she has this job and she volunteers at the library too.

My Review of Karen’s Reissued book, SHADOW BOXING!

Karen Wiesner’s book, Shadow Boxing, treats readers to a beautiful love story that speaks to the heart. From the first page I was captivated by the characters Justine and Joshua Samuels. I enjoyed reading this second book in the Family Heirlooms Series. I felt so invested in both characters, Justine and Joshua, that I wanted to reach out to them and offer them advice with their struggles in their marriage. Wiesner pulled me into the thoughts of her characters by giving more depth to their big worries and concerns about their married life together. Wiesner includes quotes about love at the beginning of each chapter which I also enjoyed.

Vashti, the teenage daughter of Justine and Joshua, is an important part of the story because she forces her parents to deal with their problems by giving them a mission trip to Mexico for their anniversary gift. Vashti fears that her parents will divorce when she goes off to college and they become empty nesters. She keeps her parents focused by an unique approach while they are all three in Mexico.

I highly recommend Shadow Boxing by Karen Wiesner and it’s a relevant Christian book that makes an emotional impact about love that you won’t forget. If you haven’t read Book One in the series, that’s no problem because this can be read as a stand alone.

BLURB
Joined before God and family out of a sense of responsibility? Or love?

As a teenager, Justine Morris’s escape from the pressures of caring for her dying father was stolen moments with Joshua Samuels. But their tender, desperate liaison found them facing teen pregnancy. Afraid of their Christian families’ responses to the situation, they married quickly and built a life for their child.

But now that their daughter is ready to fly the nest, Justine can no longer ignore the truth: She and Joshua haven’t had a real marriage for a long time. Maybe they never had one at all.

Joshua is only too aware that his busy, professional attorney wife is an independent woman who never really needed him. After nearly two decades of marriage, he’s quit trying to get more than a piece of her at a time. Without their daughter holding them together, he knows the chasm between them will grow to epic proportions.

Their empty nest looming, they face the hard questions. Had they married in love…or out of a hasty sense of responsibility? Was it God’s will for them to be together? And now, is it worth the effort to learn to become one as the Lord intends for a man and a woman…or better to simply let go?

A JOYFUL BREAK BLURB
