Date Night!

water-on-elephants
starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattison

My husband Tom and I don’t have many date nights so when we do, it’s very special! Fortunately, for us Christina was free last night to stay with Sara and Amanda, so we went to see the movie Water on Elephants. She had already seen this movie and had enjoyed watching it. Many times when we go to a movie and I ask Tom afterwards if he liked it, he almost always says, “It was okay.” This time he said, “It was good.”

Reese Witherspoon and Patterson are great as Marlena and Jacob. I was a bit afraid we’d get there too late to see the beginning, but we got there a few mintues before it started. Hal Halbrooks is in the beginning and end. He portrays the elderly Jacob. In case, you haven’t heard of this movie, here is a brief synopsis:

After his parents’ death, Jacob Jankoski is left penniless and homeless. Events lead him to joining the circus as their vet, working under their unstable boss August whose violent tendencies give everyone reason to be cautious around him, including his beautiful and quiet wife Marlena, whom August is very possessive of and who Jacob finds himself soon falling in love with.

TV Shows

Last night we watched two hours of NCIS! I liked the Season Premiere. Tony (Michael Weatherly) looked even hotter than last season! I also liked the new NCIS,Los Angeles starring Chris O’Donnell. I think the story line with him being an orphan and the fact he goes by G (he never knew his first name) is touching. I liked the character Hetty (Linda Hunt) and she’s the gruff office manager with a big heart.

Both Michael Weatherly and Chris O’Donnell were my past hotties here! Click on their names if you missed my blog posts about each actor!

Monday I watched all the half hr. sitcoms on CBS. I liked the new one, “Accidentally on Purpose” with Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg) and at 10 pm I watched “Castle” which made Amanda unhappy. She wanted to watch her “CSI Miami” instead. Geez, she could have moved to another room. We do have more than one TV. :)

Have a good hump day! We are going to an appreciation dinner tonight for Amanda! They are honoring the kids who worked in the summer at various jobs in the county. Her employer has already asked her back for next summer’s work!

Reading and Movie News…

Friday, September 4th, 2009

I haven’t started writing anything new because I rewrote the ending for my short to resubmit and want to next add words to Marrying Mallory. I already have a contract for it and it releases in January. I thought of two scenes I want to add. In the meantime, I’ve been reading again.

While at Outer Banks, I read Sandra Brown’s Smoke Screen and the excerpt in the back for her book, Smash Cut. I checked this one out of the library, and I liked it but not as much as her other books. Recently I read Johanna Lindsey’s No Choice but Seduction. Right now I’m reading Miss Mae’s It’s Elementary, My Dear Miss Winified. It’s an interesting mystery.

On Tuesday we saw “My Sister’s Keeper” starring Abigail Breslin and Cameron Diaz. I really liked it but wish I had read the book first by Jodi Picoult. I actually hadn’t thought I’d like this movie so was pleasantly surprised how much I did. A lot of great scenes but especially liked the ones with Joan Cusack.

~~~
I’ll have a hottie for you soon! I thought of him the other day.
What are your Labor Day plans? I’m hoping we can get a day of swimming in before closing our pool, but now they are saying 40% chance of rain on Labor Day. It rained here on July 4th. I still have a cold/allergies hanging on. It’s been a week now.
I have so much on my mind these days that I really am enjoying my daily bike ride. It gives me a break from everything. Well, I miss on days when the weather isn’t cooperating or just don’t make the time to take a ride. I pray sometimes while I ride my bike or think about a story I want to start writing. I haven’t had time to start anything new yet.
I’ve been mailing out the new Whitney bookmarks and new pens. This is one of my least favorite things to do as an author. It takes time to get them ready to mail and to go to the Post Office. And I have noticed the higher rates! But at the same time, I’m thankful to have a new release and hope readers enjoy Whitney! I had fun writing about her! You’ll be able to learn about Whitney during my blog tour because I’m writing a character interview for one of the stops.
I have 15 blog posts to write for my tour. Actually I have one done and another one will be finished soon.
Don’t forget I’ll draw a lucky commenter on August 1st for an ebook of WHITNEY IN CHARGE.
I’ve spent hours trying to find a place to go for a vacation - either Ocean City or Outer Banks. We haven’t gone on a family vacation for some time, but just not sure where to stay at Outer Banks. I was going to book it for the Kitty Hawk area, but then read how the beach around Nags Head is one of the best beaches. Also a lot of the nicer places are booked that are reasonable rates. Maybe I should book a place for next summer. :)
We go to the movie sometimes on Tuesday because of the lower prices. I think we might see the second Museum one with Ben Stiller today.
Better get off here so I get my ride in before it gets hot.
Saw two things I liked today!
I went with my daughters today to see “The Proposal” movie with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It’s a cute romantic movie. I really enjoyed it!
We looked at a house we’d love to buy. The owners have lowered the price, and we’re going to write an offer tomorrow. Another couple also want to buy it and made an offer. I’m hoping they will take ours.
I can’t believe it’s July already and have been trying to think of contests for my Whitney book!
Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
